Lesson 1: What's the Matter
Students will
apply the skills necessary to conduct scientific
investigations by writing down what they think
the mystery object is and describing the
properties and their observations on what makes
that object that item.
Students
will describe structures and properties of, and
changes in, matter by discussing and creating a
story map of properties of matters and of
solids.
Students will
also compete WB74 and WB75
Lesson 2: Types of Matter
Students
will apply the skills necessary to conduct
scientific investigations by writing down what
they think the mystery object is and describing
the properties and their observations on what
makes that object that item.
Students

Lesson 3: Review of Matter
Students will
recognize that everything around us is matter by
filling out Matter Notes sheet and watching the
video.
Students will
know be able to give examples of physical and
chemical change by verbally giving an example.
Students will be
able to read the story with accuracy, fluency,
and comprehension by reading the story out loud
after having read it to themselves.
Lesson
4: Liquids
Students will
recognize that liquid is matter that flows, by
answer questions verbally.
Students will
observe and describe the properties of liquids
by writing a short paragraph.
Lesson 5: Sink or Float
Students
will apply the skills necessary to conduct
scientific investigations by writing down what
they think the mystery object is and describing
the properties and their observations on what
makes that object that item.
Students
will describe structures and properties of, and
changes in, matter by discussing and creating a
story map of properties of matters and of
solids.
Students
will read and listen and comprehend the story
Mr. Gumpy’s Outing.
Students will
complete an art project where they cut out
objects that will float and sink in water. I
will be grading them using a rubric.
Students will
also compete WB79
Lesson 6:
Gases
Students will
answer questions verbally about where they gases
might be found or a type of gas.
Students will
write what they observer about gases
Students will
draw pictures and write captions about gases
Students will
observe gases by blowing bubbles
